Washington Wizards: I Don't Know What the Hell is Going On...

The Washington Wizards are weird. It feels like they have no direction for where they want to go. They are paying two players maximum dollars while being complete ass. Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole are the franchise players. Along with veterans Tyus Jones, Daniel Gafford, and Landry Shamet. For a team that is trash, there are few young players in the squad. The Wizards are moving on from the John Wall and Bradley Beal era, but they have done a shitty job doing so.

Kyle Kuzma is having a career year this season. He is coming into the season averaging 23 points per game, 6 rebounds, and a 58 true shooting percentage. Kuz has earned himself a four-year, 104 million-dollar deal. Kyle has the green light to shoot the ball. He is no longer playing behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Wizards have given him a contract that they can move. There are many teams that are dying for a wing who can play off-ball and play some defense. Kuzma has shown that he can be a good 3rd or 4th option for a championship, along with his teammate Jordan Poole.

Last offseason, Draymond Green punched the young star Jordan Poole in the face. The Warriors decided to run with their long-time veteran over their young player. Poole was then traded to Washington in exchange for Chris Paul. It seemed like the Warriors fans were forcing the narrative of Poole being a future star. They didn't recognize him as the future 6th man of the year. There is nothing wrong with having a Lou Williams career, but fans want to make everyone a future All-Star. Jordan is averaging 17 points per game in 53 true percent shooting. He is too damn inconsistent. He is not a franchise star, but rather a fourth option. He showed that during the 2022 championship run. He played alongside Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Along with Poole, the Wizards have some tradable veterans.

Tyus Jones is the perfect point guard in the NBA. He is an incredible role player and has made an impact wherever he has played. Whether it's the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Memphis Grizzlies, Teams like the Lakers would love to have such a consistent point guard. This season, Tyus has averaged 13 points, 5 assists, and 62 true shooting percentages. He is legit, and the Wizards should look to spend the deadline trying to sell him. Daniel Gafford is one of the best upsides for the Wizards. He is good at finishing at the basket and his rim protection. He is averaging 2 blocks per game, 10 points per game, and a 70 percent true shooting percentage. He is one of the best things happening to the Wizards, along with the younger core in Deni Avdija.

Deni Avdija is one of the biggest stars to come from Israel. He can pass the ball, rebound, and play defense. The 22-year-old has made strides in his shooting too, as he scored 17 points on 5-9 shooting. He is a sense of optimism for the team. A good building block for a rebuilding team. The Wizards seem to believe in him as he got paid a 55 million-dollar deal for four years. He is still far from his prime and has a long way to go when it comes to development. Deni Avdija and Bilal Coulibaly are the future of the team.

Bilal Coulibaly is what any franchise would die for. With a 7-foot-2 wingspan and a 6'8  height, He has shown signs of being a shooter, a guy who can create his own shots, and a passer. As he spends more time in the league, he'll be able to make the jump to become a star for the franchise. His defense is all anybody can talk about with him. His defense has translated really well in the big leagues. As of right now, he comes off the bench, but in the future, there is no doubt he will see more minutes. He is a gamble pick, so in a few years we have to see how far he makes it in the league.

The Wizards are in a new chapter in their franchise. Now, there are no bad contracts like Bradley Beal's and John Wall's. Washington has two former champions. They are great to surround their young talent with. The Capital could look to move their veteran talent for more assets. Though I don't know what the hell is going on in Washington, there could be many ways they can work with this team. The Wizards could either be mediocre for years to come or trade their players for assets.
