Victor Wembanyama Is An Alien!
Victor Wembanyama has made himself one of the best defenders in the league. He is great at blocking shots and guarding the perimeter. He can finish at the rim and shoot three-pointers. Vic is an awesome on- and off-the-ball player, which makes him the total package at such a young age.
One of the best young prospects to start the season has been Victor Wembanyama. A player who is seven foot three with an eight-foot wingspan. Wemby is built like a comic book movie character. The Avengers or Justice League would have to fight him to achieve world peace. After a wild rookie year, he looked like a top-20 player. This season, he is close to a top-10 argument as he has been able to dominate on offense and defense ends of the court. He even made an argument for winning Defensive Player of the Year along with being in the All-Star conversation.
Last season, it was surprising to see Wemby transition to the NBA with such ease. It felt like watching a player at the peak of his career. He was able to finish number two behind veteran fellow Frenchman Rudy Gobert, and it made sense why. Victor can block shots and disrupt players trying to score in the paint. Wemby can also guard the perimeter by holding his own against guards and forwards. He is a headache on the court for the opposing teams to score baskets on. Victor is the season's leading shot-blocker. He's making his case for defensive player of the year. It's electrifying that a second-year player can play like a veteran. Along with his ability to take over the offensive end.
Wembanyama has dominated on offense and scored 42 points on Christmas Day against Karl-Anthony Towns. He is tough to guard due to his size and ability to shoot threes and create his shots off the dribble. It's incredible to watch him night in and night out. Along with his off-ball ability in the post and spot-up three. The only problem Vic faces is that he does not play with enough aggression. At times he settles for a jump shot instead of driving strong to the rim. It is a healthy hiccup for a young player as he continues to build his body and figure out how to get his shots a lot easier. Vic is averaging 25 points per game. So, it will be crazy to imagine him figuring out how to dominate on offense.
With Chet Holmgren and Zion Williamson out for most of the season, a void remains. and Wemby has done an incredible job filling it. He has been able to dominate on both ends of the court and lead the Spurs to a record of 15-15. If Victor stays healthy, they might make the play-in teams. With some luck, they could then make the playoffs. The Spurs team record is yet to be determined, but the individual success for Wemby is coming a lot early.
This is a crazy season for Victor Wembanyama. He is on pace to win Defensive Player of the Year, make the All-Defensive team, and be an All-Star. Vic has been one of the most dominant players on both ends of the court. Block shots, guard perimeter players, shoot threes, and finish at the rim. Vic is rising to be a top 10 player in the league at this rate. He is an alien that the league has never seen. At this rate, Victor Wembanyama could be one of the greatest players in 10 years.
