Utah Jazz: A Better Future!
The Utah Jazz has started their rebuild by trading away their veterans.
The Utah Jazz have begun their rebuild, releasing the older players to focus on developing their young core. This year, the Jazz drafted Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr. to add to their already talented young core. Along with bringing back their young talent who have shown NBA talent. Danny Ainge has built a solid team of young players. But the Jazz need a star to become a playoff team. The Utah Jazz might not get much attention in the stacked West, but they could be one of the most fun teams next season.
This off-season, the Utah Jazz decided to do a sell-off by trading away John Collins and Collin Sexton. Both trades were a stinker for the front office, as they got nothing in return. It made no sense that they gave away Collin Sexton and gave a second-round pick and an aging Jusuf Nurkic. The team let go of John Collins for a mere second-round pick. This move is shocking, especially since he was in high demand mid-season. Walker Kessler is due for an extension soon, so it will be interesting to see what the front office decides. It will be interesting to see if the Jazz will give him a payday or a sign-and-trade deal. There is only one contract that the Jazz are locked on, which is Lauri Markkanen.
Lauri Markkanen is the franchise player who is on a long and tradable contract. Utah could look to trade him at the deadline or the next off-season to get more assets. Since joining the team, he has become an All-Star and the face of the team. Lauri is in his prime and fits with every team with his ability to play without the ball. This season, Markkanen might boost his value. He could play at an All-Star level while young players strive to shine.
With the veteran players all traded away, we could see many players look to make a jump this season. Kyle Filipowski showed a lot of potential last season as he showed the ability to pass, score, and rebound. Keyvonte George looks to make a jump next season, as he has shown to be a talented scorer. The hope is that he becomes a strong third option this season. Isaiah Collier, a second-year player, looks to continue building his ability to score. He is a solid defender and good playmaker who plays the open floor well and finishes strong at the rim. Taylor Hendricks, coming back from a brutal injury, looks to come back in shape and build on his rookie year. And one big question mark is Cody Williams, who had an awful rookie season. He did not look like a basketball player with a long career. The hope is he can be a positive role player on the team going forward. The Utah Jazz has built a good foundation.
The Utah Jazz are a good team with a great set of young players. Ace Bailey could thrive on a team that has a history of building good teams. Walter Clayton Jr. looks like a stud in the G League. The team has its young players back, who are coming back this season with more opportunity to shoot. And Will Hardy has shown to be a great coach who can develop the core. The Jazz's future is bright, and they look to build a competing team in a few years.
