Tyus Jones on a bargain?

Tyus Jones on a bargain?

The Phoenix Suns were an embarrassment last postseason. Overpowered by the Minnesota Timberwolves in an upsetting sweep. Anthony Edwards did the DX Suck It pose and gave the fans what they wanted. Showing a lot of charisma on the court, which got the viewers all over the world hyped. Another disappointing season for the duo Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Bradley Beal did not live up to his hype. It seemed like all three were trying to get their points up instead of organizing the offense. Which led to Frank Vogel getting fired and the hiring of Mike Budenholzer. One of the most exciting parts of the off-season is how they got an affordable deal in Tyus Jones.

Tyus Jones being this late as a free agent was a shock to everyone. He has been one of the best backup point guards in the league since 2017. A talented playmaker and shot creator. The Suns were horrible in the fourth quarter due to a lack of a point guard. The Suns now have that in Jones. In the fourth, he can be the decision-maker. Get Kevin Durant and Devin Booker their spots on offense. And help close out crucial games. And the fact that they signed him for dirt cheap is crazy. The Suns did not have flexibility to begin with but have made the most out of it with deals like this. And with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker coming off the Olympics, it will be fun to see how the chemistry will be on the court.

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker had an incredible summer. Winning gold in France. Kevin Durant had many legendary performances. Year 17 and still killing it, Devin Booker earned the respect of fans. His ability to make sacrifices and become a role player for stars that are bigger than him. His off-the-ball skills were incredible. This Summer Olympics performance puts a lot of optimism in the Suns' fanbase. The chemistry between the two stars has improved. Coaching can model something similar. By having Tyus Jones control the offense and setting up the two stars for easy points. The Suns are already a team with good off-ball players. And now Phoenix have a facilitator who can control the show.

The Suns have a lot of good off-ball players. Royce O'Neale is a good corner three-point shooter. He helps the Suns win some games. Along with being a solid defender. Grayson Allen was a huge plus on offense. At times looking like the third option. Mason Plumlee is a solid backup center. Jusuf Nurkic is a decent rim protector. Bradley Beal, throughout his career, has been a good off-ball shooter. And Monte Morris can be a playmaker off the bench. Tyus Jones can help elevate their play on the court. Create shots for all of them. The Suns have all the tools but nobody to dictate them. Which gives Tyus the green light to dictate which way the offense goes.

It is crazy how the Suns got Tyus for dirt cheap. Only a $3.3 million deal, which is a huge win for James Jones. The point guard has decided to take a gamble on himself. The core trio of Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant now have a point guard who can pass to them at their spots. All are great at playing without the ball. And Tyus being known for his playmaking. Along with him being a talented catch-and-shoot guy, it makes it easier for the Suns. He can be a knockdown shooter when Phoenix needs him. Jones is an okay defender, so he won't be a huge negative on that end. Tyus is an underrated signing, and he could make the Suns a top-five seed in this upcoming year.
