Trae Young's Last Ride?
Trae Young's Last Ride?
The Atlanta Hawks are on their last legs in this Trae Young era. The three-time All-Star faces another rebuild. The Hawks were one of 2021's hottest teams. Their point and forward duo, Trae Young and John Collins, led the way. With veterans, Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic completing the squad. Then the Hawks took the Bucks to six games in the Eastern Conference Finals. It seemed the young superstar would lead this team to many playoff runs. But it has been a failure. Since 2022, it has been all downhill.
The Hawks wanted to build up their momentum. They had one of the best young guards in the league coming into that season. So, the front office wanted to make a big splash. To make Atlanta compete with other competitors. Trading for a player coming off of his All-Star season, Dejounte Murray. It felt like a match made in heaven. Trae's lack of ability to cover other guards was the perfect match. But it did not work out. After giving up many first-round picks and getting no results. They found themselves in the play-in. They got eliminated in the first round every time. Now, the Atlanta Hawks have to collect their losses. Get younger and send Murray on his way to New Orleans. Forcing the organization to go young and once again look to rebuild.
With the first pick in the draft, we can assume the Hawks want to get younger. Zaccharie Risacher is one of the hottest prospects in the league. He's a small forward in this year's draft. In a draft class where there isn't any All-Star talent. People around the league assume that the Hawks might be looking to get younger. Looking at a future without Trae Young. With Jalen Johnson, he has the chance to become the most improved player next season. Dyson Daniels also has the chance to thrive in a bigger role in Atlanta. Everyone in the organization looks to make a pivot. Put themselves in a position where they could make a trade and get a comfortable package for the future.
The future of the Hawks and Trae Young is bleak. The multiple-time All-Star is great at creating his shot and playmaking. But the issue for the Hawks is that Trae has not been able to take the team to another level. Atlanta and Trae's experience is failing. With Luka Doncic and SGA being able to lead their team to respectable records. And Atlanta having to compete for a play-in spot shows how stuck the organization is. The Atlanta Hawks have the chance to be a decent team competing in the playoffs or decide to rebuild. Look to get rid of Trae and get some assets out of him. This is a crucial season for both parties. If the Hawks does not compete, then this could be Trae Young's last ride.
