The Cavs Won The Trade!

The Cavs made a key move. They traded De'Andre Hunter to get 26-year-old Keon Ellis and veteran guard Dennis Schröder. Both players can make their impact without delay and be a key for a Cavs run. The Chicago Bulls somehow were able to walk away with more than Sacramento was able to.

Another trade has happened! It seemed like the trade market was dead after Trae Young asked his way into the Washington Wizards. This season has disappointed the Cavs, as they expected to dominate the East. Donovan Mitchell has been the team's standout player. He’s led them to levels not reached since LeBron James. His supporting cast hasn't stepped up, so the front office made big trades. Keon Ellis and Dennis Schröder can play key roles in helping the Cavs make a deep playoff run. This combination could finally take them to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Last trade deadline, the Cavs made their big move in trading for De'Andre Hunter. The forward was hitting his prime, and Cleveland was lacking wings, so it seemed like a match made in heaven. Hunter shot 39 percent from three-point range, showing great potential. Yet, he missed the playoffs due to a right thumb injury. Hunter faced heavy expectations this season because he arrived healthier and ready to play a full season. De'Andre had a down year, unable to play up to par on both ends of the court. Hunter is shooting 30 percent behind the arc, which has been a career low. Cleveland decided to trade De'Andre Hunter. They wanted a younger 3&D player to fill gaps. They also needed a point guard to replace Ty Jerome with Dennis Schröder. This move came as no surprise.

The Sacramento Kings and Keon Ellis have finally broken up. This season, Ellis struggled to get consistent minutes. He is one of the best young players on the roster, so it left a lot of head-scratchers. Keon Ellis is the on-ball player the Cavs needed on the team. He is someone who can guard, along with being able to get steals and blocks. Cleveland has gotten a steal with Keon, who is a good off-ball player who can be the fifth option on the floor. Keon is shooting 36 percent behind the arc, which could translate well for the Cavs. The Kings lacked a strong defensive culture. However, with Jarrett Allen in the middle, we might see Keon thrive more. Cleveland has cut their losses and was able to fill in the holes needed.

Every trade deadline it seems like Dennis Schröder has been traded. He is the second most traded player after Trevor Ariza. Now, the FIBA champion finds himself in Cleveland, where he could play a big role in being the ball handler off the bench. Last season, he stood out with the Pistons. He played a key role in their playoff performance against the Knicks. Dennis is an average Cleveland point guard who can always find a role on every team. Ty Jerome left a big hole with his playmaking and shooting, in which Lonzo Ball has failed. Dennis has been a steady scorer with solid defense. He could be a key player for the second unit. The only fear is if he will buy in to fill. in which has been something that has been discussed over the past few seasons. Cleveland is a new opportunity for the veteran guard to be able to be a key factor in.

De'Andre Hunter has found a new home, and unfortunately it is the Sacramento Kings. One of the worst-run organizations in the league with one of the best fanbases in the world. The Kings appear okay with being mediocre since they got no draft picks from this trade. With Sabonis, LaVine, and DeRozan on the roster, they might just end up as another play-in team. The hope is that Hunter is able to rebuild his value and prove he could be a key factor for a contender. The 28-year-old has had a rough year. But if he adapts well in Sacramento and embraces a new role, other teams might see his value. Overall for the Kings, this was a bad deal, which does not help them improve.

The Chicago Bulls joined the trade, acquiring Dario Saric and two second-round picks. The Bulls had to trade nothing and got something out of it. Dario is an expiring contract who has struggled to find his footing on a couple of teams since his ACL injury. The Bulls plan on making him a part of the team by waiving Jevon Carter. Somehow the Bulls were able to get more draft capital than the Sacramento Kings!

Cleveland was able to get what they needed through this trade. Keon Ellis is a great defender who will now get more opportunities to show off his talent. His impact will be direct with Ellis's ability to play on and off the ball. Dennis Schröder can be a rotational guard handling the playmaking duties off the bench. The Chicago Bulls were able to get some assets from this trade along with the veteran big man Dario Saric. De'Andre Hunter is now on a new team. He needs to rebuild himself and hopes to get traded from Sacramento. With Hunter's down year, the Cavs making the necessary pivot is incredible!
