Russell Westbrook and Kings: A Perfect Match!

Russell Westbrook has joined the Sacramento Kings. He could thrive there and help them reach the play-in tournament.

After a long time, the Sacramento Kings have finally signed Russell Westbrook. The former MVP has found a new home in Sacramento, and he will have many opportunities to thrive on an older team. The Kings aim to be a play-in team. Russ helps them with his skills and his ability to control the pace of the game. His play with Domantas Sabonis's hand of passes is incredible. It opens the floor for other players like Keegan Murray and DeMar DeRozan to get to the basket. This team is great for the former MVP, as he will get more minutes to shine and end his career on his terms.

The Sacramento Kings are a perfect fit for the former MVP. Fans and media hoped Russell Westbrook would join the Houston Rockets or the Oklahoma City Thunder. But that idea didn’t take off, as they have younger players they want to invest in. If you are Oklahoma, it is better to play Ajay Mitchell and Cason Wallace, who are a lot younger. For Houston, it's best to play Amen Thompson, who has shown improvement in playmaking and ball handling. Reed Sheppard can get more playing time. It's better to use him than to sign Russ, who is nearing retirement. Now, with the Sacramento Kings, he fits nicely, as he will have no competition for the starting spot. And with the lack of depth on the Kings, he will be able to play his game instead of taking a backseat like he did in Denver.

At this point, we can't expect Russell Westbrook to win a ring anytime soon. The former MVP and future Hall of Famer should play out the end of his career on his own terms. Russ tried with Houston, LA, and Denver, and that was a failure, so he should play on a team where he can have a role. Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony show this well. They joined teams where they could help, not sit on the bench hoping to win a title. Russ can do the same, as he can play at a high level for the last few years of his career and retire celebrated. The Sacramento Kings aren’t a championship team. Yet, he might improve their game enough to secure the eighth seed. Russell Westbrook can be a good voice in the locker room and could win some games this year.
