Orlando Magic's Franz Wagner jump? KCP Big Signing.

Orlando Magic's Franz Wagner jump? KCP Big Signing.

The Orlando Magic have made two big moves this offseason. They gave Franz Wagner a huge five-year, $224 million contract. And signing one of the best role players for $66 million for three years. Both signings signify that Orlando is looking to compete in the years to come. That the Magic want to compete for the playoffs for the next few seasons. Paolo Banchero becoming an All-Star in his second season was awesome. He is going to be the future of the league. Orlando's front office decided that he needs players that can elevate their game. And ensured that his second option got paid. But a lot of questions come with Franz Wagner.

Franz Wagner's postseason ended shitty. His problems with his three-point shooting showed. The only thing stopping him from becoming an All-Star is his lack of a three-point shot. He is great at driving the basket, but defenses can slack off with his bad shooting. It is something that he can figure out if Franz gets over his mental hump. With how far his three-point shooting has dropped, it's crazy. In his first two seasons, he shot 36 percent on threes. In the second season, he shot 35 percent. But this season it was a career-low 28 percent shooting. If Franz does not pick up his shooting, that will cause problems for the Magic. And another problem Wagner has is his lack of ability to close.

The playoffs were bad for Franz. He was very inconsistent, while Paolo was able to thrive. He scored only six points, six rebounds, and six assists. Franz could not close out the series. He was irrelevant late in the series. From scoring 34 points in game 4 to becoming a non-factor, Cleveland was able to figure him out. Which resulted in people questioning if Franz is a future star. Along with this Summer Olympics, in which Wagner had a poor showing against France. Only scoring 10 points in the most crucial game. A lot of holes are in Franz's game, but Orlando is confident in his jump. Bringing in KCP can help with Franz's development.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was one of the biggest signings this offseason. The Nuggets, for some reason, chose not to extend a key player on their championship team. Pope was a key factor in two title runs. Being a part of the Lakers, where he played off of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Then, three years later, he played with the Nuggets along with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. KCP is an incredible off-ball player. A great spot-up shooter, which opens up the floor for his star players. He is also a great defensive player. Great at guarding the wing. Now, Pope is playing with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, who are great at driving to the rim. Which will open some shooting opportunities for KCP.

This was an incredible deal for the Orlando Magic. A signing that left people wondering why the Nuggets did not match. Orlando excelled on defense last season. Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac, and P5 are defensive monsters. Now, adding KCP makes the backcourt duo of Suggs and Pope scary. It will be tough to score on this team in the upcoming season. Adding the fact that he shot 46 percent from 3 makes the Magic scary. Opening up the floor for the two main stars. An offensive player who cannot be left alone but does not need the ball to generate some shots. Being one of the best role players in the league today.

The Orlando Magic made two major moves this off-season. Extending their future All-Star Franz Wagner to a huge deal. Now, the 22-year-old has a big contract. He's expected to perform better. Become a better three-point shooter. To add to his ability to finish around the basket. Along with signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a three-year deal. Being one of the best role players in the league. A player who has won two championships with different teams. A team elevator that could help the Magic improve this upcoming season. Even giving them a chance to become a top 3 team in the East. The Magic are one of the most exciting teams this upcoming season.
