Oklahoma City Thunder Building on Momentum.
Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City Thunder have played their cards right. Drafting Thomas Sorber, which secures and adds to their depth and is a part of the future of the team. SGA has gotten a huge contract extension, being the highest-paid player in the league. Along with keeping Jaylin Williams and Ajay Mitchell on flexible contracts.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are the kings of the NBA, and they look to retain that crown with the moves they have made. Sam Presti is the best general manager in the league. He shows this by building a strong team through smart drafts and trades while keeping cap space. Sam has done an incredible job building a roster around Shai that has led to the superstar taking a pay cut. As expected, Gilgeous-Alexander is now the highest-paid player and he netted a five-year deal worth $285 million. Which is a huge pay cut; as if he waited another season, he could have earned himself a $380 million dollar deal. SGA's pay cut sets the stage for Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren as they are due for a new contract next offseason. One of OKC's best moves with this pay cut is locking in their role players on cheap contracts. And drafting a big man that adds to their further depth.
SGA leaving $105 million on the table with his extension so that OKC has money leftover to negotiate Chet and Dub’s contracts are why this team is on the brink of a dynasty.
Team players. Unselfish. That’s our team.

A major acquisition for the Thunder this year was Thomas Sorber from Georgetown. With Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren set for extensions soon, Isaiah Hartenstein likely won't stay. Which puts OKC in a perfect place to replace him with Thomas, who can play off the bench. Sorber can play inside and is good at shooting from the midrange. Along with attacking the baseline, making him the ideal role player on this team. OKC Thunder has managed to remain young and build on their already youthful core.
Jaylin Williams got his well-deserved contract. He was able to step up big against the Denver Nuggets, being another body up against Nikola Jokic. Williams is a talented rebounder and a good shooter behind the arc, averaging 39 percent. Jaylin is a great locker room presence and a fan favorite. This makes his extension even more special. Jaylin Williams' extension is big for OKC, along with Ajay Mitchell.
Oklahoma City Thunder C/F Jaylin Williams is signing a new three-year, $24 million contract extension with the franchise, sources tell ESPN. Thunder declined Williams' $2.1M team option and negotiated the new raise with his agents Marcus Monk and Sean Kennedy of Excel Sports.

Ajay Mitchell was a key second-round pick in last year's draft. He made a substantial contribution to the offense, even while coming off the bench. Ajay, a talented scorer and playmaker, is coming off the bench. He could significantly enhance the already stacked Thunder team. A three-year, 9 million dollar steal is a steal for this team, and Sam Presti getting away with it is crazy.

Sam Presti is a talented general manager, and for almost 20 years, he has created a strong foundation. Shai trusted him, which helped the MVP have one of the greatest individual seasons ever. The Thunder have secured their players with fair contracts. They also drafted a center to boost their depth and keep the organization flexible. The Oklahoma City Thunder head into the next season full of confidence. They also don’t need to trade any key players.
Chet Holmgren's $250 Million Deal!
Sam Presti locks in his core for a few years, extending Chet Holmgren to a five-year, $250 million contract. The 23-year-old is coming off a great Game Seven finals game where he dropped 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks. There is a lot of upside in Chet, as he is one of the best big men when healthy. The only concern is that he is injury-prone, which could be a concern later on. The Thunder played it smart, keeping their core intact, as they can build a dynasty.
Jalen Williams' $287 Million Deal!
A top 20 player in the league got his well-deserved extension! After a great season, he earned several awards, including All-Star, All-NBA, All-Defense, and the NBA Championship. Shai and Jalen make the best duo in the league right now. It’s a smart choice to keep them together for another five years. The future is bright for Oklahoma, keeping their core three together, drafting young talent, and extending role players.
