Norman Powell to Miami and John Collins to LAC!

The trade for John Collins and Norman Powell looks like a good deal for both the Miami Heat and LA Clippers. The Miami Heat needed another scorer who can take over and the Clippers needed a forward. With opportunities opening up for both teams, they have filled in the holes in their rosters.

Norman Powell to the Miami Heat.

The East is wide open, and it looked like Pat Riley was unsure until yesterday. Then, he pulled off a great trade for Norman Powell. Last season, Norman looked like an All-Star player while Kawhi Leonard was out for most of the season. Now, Powell finds himself on a new team in a conference he is familiar with. The former champion seems to be a perfect fit with the Miami Heat core.

The Miami Heat has a strong core with two All-Stars, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, along with former champion Andrew Wiggins. Adding Norman Powell for nothing is a win. He is one of the best shot creators in the league today and an elite off-ball player. Powell fits seamlessly into the Heat system and serves as a reliable second scoring option. Last season was tough for the Heat. Without Jimmy Butler this offseason, Miami has a chance to build a strong team. It is not far-fetched to imagine the Heat being a surprise team next season with their proven leadership from Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra.

John Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers!

Great move by Lawrence Frank! He traded for a wing who can handle the pressure from Kawhi Leonard. A solid defender and someone who can catch lobs and finish at the basket. John had a great season last year, averaging 19 points and 8 rebounds per game. He shot 39 percent from three-point range and 52 percent from the field. With how stacked the Western Conference is, this is a move they needed to make.

The fit for John Collins and the Clippers is ideal. LA has a power forward that they have needed for a while, and Collins is perfect. LA matches up well against the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets with John in the starting lineup. James Harden can set up many plays for Collins, either a lob to the basket or setting up for a three-point shot. John Collins and Ivica Zubac make an exciting frontcourt pair. Adding Brook Lopez to the mix will open up the floor. The LA Clippers took a daring step by letting go of Norman Powell. However, this decision could bring great rewards since John Collins might be a perfect match for LA.

Utah Jazz New Chapter of Rebuild!

Danny Ainge and his team have let go of their veteran players. The results have been disappointing, as they haven't seen a solid return from Jordan Clarkson, Collin Sexton, and now John Collins. Only getting a 2027 second-round pick in return for a power forward in the middle of his prime is a joke. Especially when there could have been better packages in the mid-season trade. Kevin Love is a thrown-in piece to this trade, as there is a possibility of him retiring this year after a buyout deal. The former NBA champion did not get much playing time last season. Or there is a chance that he could sign with the Lakers, reuniting with his former teammate LeBron James. Kyle Anderson can be a strong veteran and leader in the locker room this season if he stays. SlowMo is not only a good shooter and playmaker but also a solid defender. The Jazz are going a lot younger next season and could be a fun, losing young team next season.

Conclusion

This was a great trade for both the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Clippers. Norman Powell adds the scoring power the Heat need. He can create his own shot and also play off the ball. John Collins is a great addition for the Clippers, as he can play off of James Harden and catch lobs and shoot threes. For the Jazz, they got rid of another veteran and look to run a younger team next season.
