A New Zion Williamson & The Pelicans!

Zion Williamson looks amazing! The 2025-26 season could be wild for the team. They’ve made a smart move to compete next season. With fresh talent and returning stars, the Pelicans might finally make the leap we've all been waiting for.

After six seasons in the NBA, Zion Williamson has struggled with his weight. This issue has led him to miss many games during his career. The former first overall pick has come into this season in shape and looks ready to make that jump, finally. The two-time All-Star appears to be in incredible shape as contract season approaches. Zion is now looking to secure a new deal, but he must show new management, Joe Dumars, that he is the face of the team. With Brandon Ingram traded and Dejounte Murray out for the season, this team has made a strong pivot.

In 2025-26, Zion Williamson has shown a lot of promise this preseason in Melbourne. Playing only 15 minutes, he had some crazy games. Yesterday he scored 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists, which was crazy. He looked locked in and made the team contenders in the West. The former first-round pick, now in shape, can play more minutes and could even be point Zion. With his strength, finishing at the rim is no problem, along with being good at rebounding and passing. This season could, if Zion is healthy, find him making the All-Star and All-NBA teams. Zion, along with the Pelicans, is undergoing a complete transformation.

The New Orleans Pelicans made some interesting moves in the offseason. The Pelicans are all in this year, as they had a tough draft night. They traded their unprotected first-round pick for 2026. Joe Dumars went aggressive by trading for Jordan Poole, who is a former NBA champion. Now, on a new team, Poole can get back to the winning habits that faded during the Wizards' rebuild. With his off-ball abilities, he can fit well next to Zion Williamson and Trey Murphy III. Sadiq Bey is an elite off-ball player who can hit his threes. Trey Murphy III is the top candidate for Most Improved Player of the Year. He has done well playing off the ball. Also, he has greatly improved his ball handling and shot creation. Kevon Looney is a perfect veteran addition to the front court and helps develop Derik Queen. Herb Jones is now coming back from injury and being the defensive anchor on the team. Jose Alvarado is a steady veteran on the team. He helps young Jeremiah Fears adjust to the league. The Pelicans have built a strong roster. They have good depth and veteran players. These veterans can help develop young talent.

New Orleans really needed this change. After five years with Brandon Ingram, things didn’t work out. The team had to make a decision. Both players were unwell, and their chemistry was lacking. With Trey Murphy III making a jump, it made it easy for the team to make a good pivot. With a new roster and a healthier Zion Williamson, the Pelicans seem ready for the playoffs.
