6MOTY: Naz Reid
What a great year Minnesota has had this year! Anthony Edwards has grown into a star. Rudy Gobert's trade has shown itself to age well. But one incredible thing was the rise of Naz Reid. He has been the best sparkplug for the Timberwolves. His ability to play in the post, off the ball, and with three-point shooting makes him one of the best six-man in the league. Naz is also very talented at handling the ball. He is the perfect microwave for the championship team. Helping Minnesota end the season as the third seed.
DPOTY: Rudy Gobert
Rudy Gobert made history this season. He won his fourth Defensive Player of the Year award. He has cemented himself as a future Hall of Famer. The Timberwolves pulled off an impressive trade by bringing on a defensive anchor. It seemed that the Timberwolves could not escape mediocrity. This season, they ranked in the top four in defensive rankings. Scoring on the rim was impossible against the French big man. Along with his ability to protect the paint, he was also good at guarding the perimeter. This award was well deserved, and it showed against the Suns.
MVP: Nikola Jokić
The big man has won his third MVP award. Since Shaquille O'Neal, no center has won the MVP award. Now, Jokic has won it three times in five years. The Joker continues to build up his Hall of Fame resume. The Big Serb is sharing the same list with the likes of Larry Bird, Moses Malone, and Michael Jordan. This was well deserved, as we are watching one of the greatest centers to ever play. Jokic is creeping up to be one of the greatest centers of all time. He can score, pass, and rebound. From being a late second-round pick to becoming one of the greatest. Nobody saw that coming.
Rookie of the Year: Victor Wembanyama
The new phenomenon is the young rookie from France. The 20-year-old Victor Wembanyama showed that he was ready to take over the league. There was no debate as to whether Victor was worthy of winning this award. San Antonio has found another generational superstar. Wemby was so good that he was runner-up for defensive player of the year. He is ready to become the best player in the league. It will be exciting to see how he plays in his prime.
Most Improved Player: Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey took his game to another level this season. At the beginning of the season, James Harden forced his way out. There was pressure on Tyrese to take the top spot. And what a job did he do? Earning himself his first All-Star team and leading the 76ers when Joel Embiid went down. Maxey is a star, and he gave every team he faced hell. The youngster is the perfect guard to play alongside the former MVP, Embiid. The young player is only 23 years old, and it will be fun to see how he continues to elevate his game.
