Joel Embiid is Done.

Joel Embiid, the former MVP, now looks like his career is coming to a close. He is 30 years old now looking at the end of his prime and his contract is not looking as it goes all the way to 2029. Joel had a great career and a future Hall of Famer but had a lot of what-ifs with the lack of health.

Joel Embiid’s season has ended because of lower-body injuries, which is unfortunate. The former MVP has missed many great moments since joining the league in 2014. His rookie season started in 2016 but ended early. Embiid filled Sixers fans with hope, and it paid off. He won an MVP award. He was selected for seven All-Star games. Also, he made five All-NBA teams and three All-Defensive teams. Joel is a key to the revival of the big man position in the league today. Centers were losing ground in the league. Then, Embiid's MVP win proved that the center position is strong once more.

Daryl Morey made a huge mistake last season by not trying to compete all the way last season. His goal after the James Harden trade was to run with it with Maxey, Embiid, and role players, which did not pay off. The New York Knicks eliminated the Sixers in the first round. In free agency, Daryl and crew went out shopping and brought in Paul George, who is also injury-prone. The two major players of the team not being available has made the road of the playoffs hard. The Sixers now find themselves stuck for the future.

The contract situation for the Sixers and Joel Embiid looks ugly. He is under contract until 2029, and the fact he is now in his 30s is not good. No one expected Joel to stay healthy, given his history. So, it shocked everyone when they offered him a huge contract. Embiid is near the end of his peak due to his body. Even with challenges, he still won awards and built his resume. The Sixers have an aging player, which is a problem. The apron makes it tough for a team like Philly to make moves. It seems like Joel's career is coming to an end, but he is a legend and one of the greatest centers ever.

One of the greatest players in Sixers history, and he will find himself having his jersey retired. In his 11 seasons, Embiid has won MVP, All-NBA, and Defensive Team honors. He has made a lasting impact on the city. Fans expressed their anticipation for Embiid when the process started. It didn't work out. Ben Simmons left on bad terms. Markelle Fultz faced a strange injury. Jimmy Butler moved on. Plus, there was tension with James Harden and the team. Those were not faults, but it happened during his time there. But losing to the Hawks in the second round, losing to the Raptors, and losing to the Celtics were on Embiid. He did not show up when needed to win. Joel never was able to lead his team to the promised land of winning a title. He will be the biggest what-if due to injury from winning a title or becoming a top 20 player ever. Embiid, with his limitations, was able to achieve a lot. Joel Embiid will still be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and his speech will be something special.
