It Is Over for Playoff P.

In 2025, Paul George is no longer the star he once was. The future Hall of Famer now joins Boston's Shaq and KG Nets. They are all seen as washed-up legends in different jerseys. Now, the Sixers look to move on away from their overpaid player, which seems unlikely.

Paul George isn't focused on chasing a championship right now. Instead, he wants to compete with Joe Rogan for the world's best podcast. Gone are the days of being a top 15-20 player, making All-NBA and All-Star games. Now he has the worst contract, sitting on the bench for half the season. He played 41 games this season. PG's average was a career-low of 16 points per game. He shot 43 percent from the field; Paul struggled to help his team win games when Joel Embiid was out of action. It's clear to everyone in the league that George is nearing the end of his career. This hurts the Sixers. They once aimed for the championship but now they are struggling just to compete for a play-in tournament.

Before the season started, I was hyping up the Paul George signing. As a longtime fan, it’s great to see him bounce back from a terrible injury that looked like it would end his career. To watch him make one hell of a comeback in 2019, when he almost won MVP, earning the nickname "MVPG." George ranked in the top 10 player in the league, then he took his talent to LA in the off-season. Paul faced some health issues there but still had standout moments. In 2021, he led the Clippers to the Western Conference Finals. Despite his health struggles, PG stayed a top 15 star. He entered the 2024 off-season with that reputation.

After James Harden left the Sixers, the team gained a lot of cap space. Daryl Morey aimed to use this money to sign another star. He wanted to support his injury-prone MVP, Joel Embiid. Wasting another good year because he hoped Joel Embiid will be healthy next season. Plus add the fact that Tyrese Maxey won Most Improved Player and became a star. Everyone liked the idea of adding Paul George, even though it was costly. They saw him as a solid third option. Who can take pressure away step up when needed and return to his defensive roots, which made him a star? But it doesn't seem like it went that way. Paul George Tobias Harris on a worse contract and less healthy. It has put the Sixers in a situation that isn't ideal. Now the talks of trade are on the horizon.

Talks are starting about moving Paul George soon. Daryl Morey and Elton Brand are eager to reduce their losses. Yet, no team appears willing to take the contract. The second apron makes it less likely for Paul to join a new team. This is due to the decline in his performance and lack of health. With Joel Embiid dealing with his own set of injuries, a rebuild could be a lot sooner than later. PG's contract might end badly. He won’t be a top player and likely won't help the Sixers win a championship.

By 2025, Paul George's career has been on the decline. He no longer appears to be a star and holds the worst contract in the league. Paul George is a certain future Hall of Famer. He played in a great era for his position. George shared the spotlight with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard. Still, he managed to capture his moments. But now he is awful to watch as PG adds to Celtics Shaq and Brooklyn Kevin Garnett memes. History will remember PG with affection. His story and media presence help. But right now, he seems washed up and isn't contributing to winning baskets. Paul George should focus on podcast ratings instead of chasing a championship. As a media personality, he’s more entertaining on the mic than what happens on the court.
