D'Angelo Russell ice in his veins.

D'Angelo Russell ice in his veins.

D'Lo is back where it started. Getting drafted by the Lakers in the 2015 draft means getting traded back to LA by the deadline. A player who is a B-list point guard can take over when needed. And boy, had Russell taken over. He has become the third option for the team on offense in the past month. It has been missing this season, but D'Lo has filled in that role. Leading La in impressive wins while putting up great numbers. Since January, he has averaged over 20 points per game. This takes the load off Lebron James and Anthony Davis. The 28-year-old has put on a great show. But why did it take Darvin Ham to unleash the beast?

Darvin Ham has been awful as the head coach for the Lakers. He has been trash and has shown clear favoritism. They were insistent on starting Taurean Prince. But he was the eighth man off the bench. Or trying to make Cam Reddish work in the starting lineup. Instead of playing the lineup, which helped push the Lakers to the conference finals. The Lakers should be in the playoff discussion as a top-4 seed, but they are looking at a play-in spot. That is a joke for a squad with Anthony Davis and one of the greatest players ever, LeBron James. Darvin has shown bias in his coaching. As last season, he preferred going with Dennis Schroder. They had a relationship in Atlanta. At the trade deadline, the LA put D'Angelo on the market. Trying to get Dejounte Murray. It has been a roller coaster for D'Lo, but he has been able to redeem himself.

This off-season, D'Lo could end up leaving. He has a player option on his contract. With this season being frustrating, it isn't far-fetched for him to leave. Ham has been awful at his job. Forcing Russell to come off the bench and lose well-deserved minutes. As well as being in the trade market this past deadline. The fact that during LA's hunt for the playoffs, this has come out seems well planned. Rob Pelinka and Jennie Buss have to fire Darvin Ham for such an abysmal regular season. The team has two Hall of Famers. They also have a talented third option. The Lakers should be contenders, not a 9th seed.
